Abstract
This study aims to examine the effect of teacher support and motivation to read to the students' reading ability of grade 5 elementary school (SD and MI), aged 9-11 years. Data collection tool tests the reading ability and reading motivation scale and the scale of support for teachers. Research subjects were 71 students from two schools, 43 students of 43 elementary school students and 28 student from MI. The results of regression analysis showed that teacher support and motivation to read a positive effect on reading ability (R = 0.93, F = 3.492 with p <0.05).
